Scouts Out – Chapter 3: Armored Reconnaissance Vehicles

03-132_Page_1s03-132_Page_2s

Since all of the basic vehicles used for armored reconnaissance have been the subject of numerous monographs, this chapter serves primarily as an introduction to the vehicles for the uninitiated and the opportunity to present previously unpublished images of most of the armored cars, halftracks and fully tracked vehicles used during the prewar and war years.

    Hallo,

are you sure, that the bottom picture on side 153 shows

a Sdkfz 222 loaded on a train – in my opinon it cut be

just as well an Sdkfz 250 – 9 (Bertawagen).

I have no sources to witness.

      Hello, Josef!
Many thanks for taking the time to comment. The picture you refer to is now on page 165 (top) of the printed book. You may well be right that it is of a Sd.Kfz. 250/9, but most of these photos came from a set that was identified as early war (and demonstrated in many instances by the uniforms). Consequently, I identified the vehicle as a Sd.Kfz. 222, as that is the primary armored car seen in all of the other images from this set.

      Lieber Josef!
